Frequented by music and film celebrities such as Madonna, Simon Cowell, U2, and Jim Carrey, a 7,100 square foot condominium at Miami Beach’s The Setai unceremoniously broke the record for most expensive condo ever sold in South Florida. The $27 million condo, which quickly broke the $25 million record set by the Sky Mansion in May 2012, spans the entire length of the 40th floor of The Setai plus a 3,000 square foot, rooftop terrace. The penthouse, which has been previously rented out at $30,000 per night and sold for “just” $15 million as recently as June 2010, features four-and-a-half bedrooms and six bathrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the ocean.
Amenities include infinity pool, hot tub, summer kitchen, Jacuzzi, and designer appliances and fixtures from SubZero, Gagenau, and Duravit and Dorenbracht. The deal was brokered by Jeff Miller of Zilbert International Realty who had previously brokered another record-breaking penthouse sale in 2011, also at The Setai and for $21.5 million. The anonymous buyer purchased the condo through a group of European investors based in Delaware who had first purchased the unit in the initiative $15 million sale in 2010.
