Beleaguered A-Rod Sells MB Mansion for Record-breaking Price

New York Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez may have just recently been suspended for one and a half seasons from the sport that made him his fortune, but his recent record-breaking real estate sale is sure to keep him in the financial black for the foreseeable future. The All-Star athlete sold his Miami Beach mansion in May for $30 million, the highest price ever on North Bay Road. Even then, the sale price was still $8 million less than the original asking price while netting A-Rod $15 million in profit.
The Miami native initially bought the house three years ago for $7.4 million and spend an additional $7.6 million to renovate it to a more modern design. The nearly 20,000 square feet of residential expanse encompasses nine bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, and a four-car garage. But the amenities don’t stop there as it also features a surround sound home theater, a vanishing-edge heated pool, an outdoor kitchen, rooftop deck, and a guest house.
Since the mansion was the residence of a high-level athlete, it also features a stand-alone gym, a 3,000 square foot sports room with batting cage, sauna, and steam room. Though the buyer is currently unknown, it was reputedly purchased by a celebrity who currently resides in Palm Beach.
