Brickell City Centre Creates New Skyways to Remove Foot Traffic from the Street
Sep 09, 2014 September 09, 2014
Brickell City Centre construction workers are creating pedestrian skyways above Southwest Seventh Street.
Swire Properties, the developers of the megaproject Brickell City Centre, have recently asked contractors to create skyways for pedestrians to walk on. The skyways will connect the mixed-use project’s towers, removing foot traffic from the streets.
Some oppose the plan to build pedestrian skyways, as it removes foot traffic from the street and keeps them in the City Centre, hindering any nearby businesses from attracting City Centre customers.
Regardless, the City of Miami officials and staff have signed off on the plan, and construction continues to move forward for the rest of the City Centre.
The Brickell City Centre is a megaproject, with many uses combined into one building complex. Developers are spending over $1 billion to create a beautiful group of towers, many high-end restaurants, luxury retail outlets, and much more.
