One of the most well-attended and highly prized cultural events in South Florida is the annual Miami Book Fair (MBF), which will be celebrating its 39th edition from November 13 through 20, 2022, as hundreds of celebrated authors and thousands of avid readers descend upon Downtown Miami to celebrate not only Miami’s favorite literary event, but the entire nation's premier literary festival and book fair.

The Miami Book Fair is presented yearly in Downtown Miami on the grounds of the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus, and is a can’t miss event for readers of all kinds. 

As the biggest literary event in the United States, Miami Book Fair 2022 will present more than 500 critically acclaimed authors representing diverse topics and communities – from poetry to politics, comics to antique books – there will be more than 200 national and international exhibitors, a weeklong series of diverse programs and events, and tens of thousands of attendees of all ages. 

This year’s 39th edition of the MBF will welcome hundreds of renowned authors for in-person talks and readings at MDC Wolfson Campus.  For those unable to attend the in-person events, there will also be a series of online presentations, readings, and events that you can find at miamibookfaironline.com.  In keeping with the diverse cultural makeup of Miami and South Florida, Miami Book Fair 2022 will be presenting events in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.


In-Person and Virtual Events



In-person and virtual festival programs and events include specialized pavilions featuring such offerings as comic books, antique books, as well as books for children and young adults. There are pavilions dedicated to translation and translated works, as well as spaces dedicated to Author Conversations, the IberoAmerican and ReadCaribbean author programs, the Generation Genius program, the National Book Foundation Teen Press Conference, and Children’s Alley.  

Visitors may also enjoy the lively Street Fair, featuring Off the Shelf and the MBF Marketplace, where you can purchase great books for the entire family.

The virtual component of the MBF, Miami Book Fair Online, presents exclusive author conversations that won’t be presented elsewhere, as well as some live streams from in-person events held at MBF In Person. Select author presentations will be streamed live on over 70 programs and released for exclusive online viewing throughout the week. Programs may be streamed on demand at any time and on any screen of your choice at miamibookfaironline.com. These programs will also remain available after MBF 2022 ends.

LOST CHAPTER: SPUN SOUNDS & STORYTELLING

This year, MBF will introduce a new series called Lost Chapter, that presents outdoor social events including music and poetry performances prior to every evening program.  Enjoy a daily exploration of music under the stars as renowned musicologists spin vinyl while sharing the lore and stories associated with their selections. Natural wines and craft cocktails will round out the event. Lost Chapter will take place from Sunday, November 13, through Friday, November 18 on the fourth floor rooftop of Building 1.

STREET FAIR

The Street Fair is the culminating event of the Miami Book Fair and takes place during the final three days of the MBF, featuring some of the fair’s most popular programs, including book vendors, handicrafts, live performances, food and drink, as well as the Children’s Alley and Off the Shelf, all during the weekend of November 18 – 20.

CHILDREN’S ALLEY

One of the most well-loved components of the MBF, Children’s Alley provides fun play-as-you-learn activities, theatrical performances, and live storytellers to entertain and educate children of various age ranges. Taking place during the popular Street Fair, during the weekend of November 18 – 20, with free admission for all K-12 public school students on Friday, November 18.

OFF THE SHELF

A special event programmed and produced by Carmel Ophir, provides social mixers with spinning DJs and live music, live performances, games, and literary events, as well as pop-up art installations, and libations at the Top Shelf bar and food court. This year, MBF in partnership with MDC’s Museum of Art + Design (MOAD), Off the Shelf will showcase new work by New World School of the Arts alumnus and internationally renowned artist Rafael Domenech.

AUTHOR TALKS & BOOK SIGNINGS

MBF provides plenty of opportunities to meet authors during panel discussions, talks, and book signing events. Look for directional signage outside each presentation room to see where authors are signing and selling books.

This year’s official Miami Book Fair 2022 poster was designed by Miami-based artist Jessy Nite, known for her large-scale site-specific outdoor installations.

About Miami Book Fair



The Miami Book Fair was founded as a two-day event in November 1984, and in nearly 40 years, has blossomed into the country’s most comprehensively programmed literary fair, and one of the most important cultural events in South Florida, recognized as a model of excellence.

Over its decades of existence, MBF has presented thousands of celebrated authors and intellectual luminaries over the years, including such figures as Madeleine Albright, Isabel Allende, James Baldwin, President George W. Bush, Sandra Cisneros, Toni Morrison, President Barack Obama, Art Spiegelman, Amy Tan, Zoé Valdés, Cornel West, Elie Wiesel, and George Will, among thousands of other influential and notable figures of the literary world.

The MBF continues to recognize and support the cultural arts as a tool for education and community building, as well as a means to enrich lives and improve livability in our region by fomenting genuine connection and understanding among diverse sectors of the community.

Tickets for Author talks and book signings are about $35 per event, and 2-day tickets for adults to the Street Fair are $15 each. Most other events are free.  All of the venues used during MBF are wheelchair-accessible. Personal attendants assisting disabled audience members may attend all events for free, and service animals are welcome at all events.
