City of Miami to Take Over Helm of Brickell Avenue from State
Jan 28, 2014 January 28, 2014
The City of Miami recently negotiated a deal with the State of Florida that will allow the city to take control of Brickell Avenue.
In exchange, the city will transfer control of two unnamed streets to the state. Spanning nearly two miles, Brickell Avenue has become the highest profile thoroughfare in the city and has burgeoned in population in recent years.
Miami leaders, who are concerned about the quality of life along Brickell Avenue, will seek to lower the speed limit from 35 miles-per-hour to 30.
When the transfer is complete, the City will be responsible for operating and maintaining the avenue.
