New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, more commonly known as A-Rod, purchased the 3,200 square-foot penthouse in Edgewater's GranParaiso. The penthouse, a “flow-through” unit on the 53rd floor featuring 12 foot ceilings, sits in a project developed by the Related Group, who did not release information on the purchase price but did note that similar units sell for over $4 million.
Once the development is completed in 2018, many celebrities will be moving in along with A-Rod. DJ and record producer David Guetta, San Antonio Spurs player Manu Ginóbili, and tennis champion Arantxa Sánchez Vicario will all live in the same tower.
The project is the fourth of many Paraiso towers part of the 10-acre complex. Amenties and benefits include a 100-foot zero entry pool, children’s pool, gym, spa, several bowling lanes, a virtual golf course, theater, and access to the Paraiso Beach Club. Other notable components of the tower are the lobby and public spaces designed by Piero Lissoni and a restaurant led by Michael Schwartz.
In 2013, A-Rod sold his 20,000 square-foot Miami Beach mansion on North Bay Road for $30 million. The 14-time MLB All-Star has a reported net worth of $252 million.
