Could Cite in Edgewater Have New Hotel Neighbor?

According to thenextmiami, a petition involving a 15 by 75 feet alley has sparked speculations that a brand new hotel could be coming to Edgewater. Why? Simply because this alley comes attached to a 7,875 sq. ft. plot located at 348 Northeast 20 Terrace. It sits adjacent to Cité and across from Paramount Bay in Edgewater. The parcel of land is owned by Platinum Edge LLC that purchased it for $1.4 million back in 2015.
So, how does one come to the conclusion that a “hotel” could be coming to this site? It just happens that Platinum Edge LLC is an entity of the Vision Hospitality Group of Tennessee. The same company that’s built Atlanta’s Courtyard by Marriott, Chattanooga’s Hampton Inn & Suites, Columbus’ Hilton Garden Inn and many more hotel properties across the country.
The hospitality giant’s representatives are now requesting Miami’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board to privatize a portion of the public alley. The city memo states that they’d like to add the alley and create a unified development site. The vote on alley vacation will take place on 18th January.
This could be no-so-great news for Cité and Paramount Bay residents who may appreciate being the only structures along NE 20th Terrace at the moment. However, it does follow a trend of more hotels coming to the Edgewater neighborhood that’s so far only been home to condos, offices and retail.
