Grab your best shades and bring along some suntan lotion as the greatest boat show in the world hits town. With a brand new location, same epic appeal and ready to show off some serious maritime muscle is the Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail event of 2016. Coinciding with the President’s Day weekend, from Feb. 11-15, gear up for five days of maritime mania.
For its 75th anniversary, the Miami International Boat Show has moved over from the Miami Beach Convention Center to its newly renovated home - the Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin. This historic site now accommodates all your in-water to on-land exhibits on a single island! There’s also a special deep water basin for the big guys. Getting around by land and sea is made easier too at this Virginia Key location. Plentiful parking, free shuttles and water taxis make sure you don’t miss out on any of the action. Though, Strictly Sail will stay put at Miamarina at Bayside for you to check out.
What’s on show? Just the latest and greatest of catamarans to race boats, sailboats, cruise boats, power boats, mega yachts and everything in between. You’ll also get to see and know the lot about sailing gear, marine accessories, electronics, hardware, engines, sport fishing, nautical gifts, apparel and services from the best of the best.
This year, test drive your favorites at the brand new Demo Docks where more than 150 vessels stand waiting for you to make a splash. Pro or not, the On-The-Water Boating and Sailing Workshops welcome you to polish off your skills. An all-new Try it Cove comes docked for water sports enthusiasts with kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding and much more. So, whether you simply wish to dip your toes or get drenched, hundreds of free one-hour seminars, boating clinics, sailing lessons and more will be on offer to quench your thirst.
Matching all that action on the sand and surf, obviously, is an all new dining and entertainment hub. From on-the-go fare to fine dining and a kids’ corner, there’s food and drink that caters to every taste. Tickets to the premier event will cost you $35, whereas a single-day pass is $20, 2-day pass is $35, 5-day pass is $85 and kids 15 or younger get in absolutely free!
So, are you ready to explore your naught-ical side?
