Piano Man Billy Joel Sells His "Allentown" in Miami Beach

Singer and Hall-of-Famer Billy Joel puts up his Spanish-Mediterranean mansion in Miami on the market. Recently turned 63, Billy Joel's departure from Miami is quite the talk of the town. At $14.75 million, Joel strikes an interesting offer.
Talk has it that he's leaving Miami altogether. Does it also say Joel's calling it quits with the Miami heat and finally heading away from the scene? That question remains unanswered. At the moment, the focus is all on his La Gorce Island mansion (not to be confused with Miami Beach waterfront property La Gorce Condo).
It would also appear that selling properties is the running theme among superstars this season, Jose Lambiet of the Miami Herald pointed out Wednesday. It could be that Joel's just going with the flow, or he really did make a life-altering decision of selling. The downside for anyone who's going to land the deal, however, is the yearly tax bill in Miami-Dade County, worth $125,000.
The Miami Beach estate sports 180 degree perspective of the bay from the Spanish-inspired courtyard, and spans well over 150 feet of the waterfront. A 9,000-square ft. lot would do more than help you stretch your legs in the morning. Seven bedrooms and about eight bathrooms scream of nothing but luxurious. Joel was especially proud of his first-rate bar and very own wine cellar. We have yet to see if this will be a big selling point for the next Miami Beach mansion owner. What's for sure is that Piano Man won't be spending as much time in his "Allentown" in Miami in the coming winter season. And since Joel hasn't commented about his final resolve just yet, the rest of us would have to pass our time speculating. Meanwhile, Joel is living the life in the Big Apple, as he always does.
