Every year, during the first week of December, Miami transforms into an art and design lover’s paradise.

Miami Art Week kicks off the season with modern and contemporary works by new and established artists filling galleries across Miami’s urban core. Sister fairs such as CONTEXT Art Miami, Red Dot Miami, and Spectrum Miami have rightfully found a permanent spot on the city’s art circuit. 

As the scene heats up, the spotlight shifts to the Miami Beach Convention Center for the season’s headlining event—Art Basel Miami Beach. Connoisseurs, collectors, celebrities, and the who’s who of the international art world descend to discover the next creative genius, rule-breaker, or disruptor among the more than 4,000 exhibiting artists. With over 280 galleries showcasing works from more than 40 countries, this is where the next art movement begins.

NightGarden and Holiday Jazz at the Fairchild

Easily one of the most magical Miami events in December, this after-dark holiday experience is back in all its glory, glowing with fairies, talking trees, rainbow-lit pathways, and enchanting music. 

The family-friendly NightGarden has turned into a true Miami tradition, bringing you a whole new way of experiencing the botanical grounds, complete with immersive storytelling and food trucks serving local favorites.

If you’re looking for even more holiday cheer, don’t miss Holiday Jazz on December 9, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Enjoy live music by vocalist Mitch Franco and his trio, a captivating violin performance between sets, and the Garden glowing with festive lights.

It’s definitely worth the drive, or Brightline ride, to Palm Beach, if you appreciate Dutch Golden Age masterpieces. Rembrandt takes center stage, including one of his self-portraits—wispy moustache and all—in one of the world’s most significant and largest private collections of 17th-century art that portrays life in the Netherlands.

Reserve your spot to explore more than 75 works from The Leiden Collection, including the only Johannes Vermeer in private hands. 

Coinciding with the 400th anniversary of New Amsterdam’s founding (present-day New York City), this once-in-a-generation exhibition also gives you access to a fully illustrated, 150-page catalogue explaining the different facets of Dutch life in the 1600s.
