It’s the perfect opportunity to catch a glimpse of a world premiere and show your support for the Miami City Ballet as an esteemed sponsor.
In celebration of their 39th Anniversary Gala, this special evening at The Fillmore will feature an excerpt from the newly commissioned Carmen, choreographed by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. The Belgian-Colombian dancer-choreographer is recognized as one of the most innovative young voices in ballet. She is also recognized as one of the few female choreographers excelling in narrative ballet.
This live preview will be followed by weekend performances at the Adrienne Arsht Center later in the month, which are mentioned below.
This gala evening will also honor Toby Lerner Ansin, founder of the Miami City Ballet, with the Visionary Philanthropy Award for his dedication and continued generosity.
April 3-13:The Miami Film Festival

Calling all cinephiles! The Miami Film Festival is back for its 42nd edition, featuring a spectacular lineup of international, Ibero-American, and local films. Presented by Miami-Dade College, the festival will take over the city with screenings at some of the most important cultural venues, including the Olympia Theater, Silverspot Cinema, Coral Gables Art Cinema, and O Cinema South Beach.
With a lineup of nearly 200 films, this visual extravaganza brings you a choice of world premieres, documentaries, short films, and narrative features by emerging and established filmmakers. This year, the festival opens with two-time Oscar nominee Julie Delpy's Meet the Barbarians and concludes with Daniel Minahan's Florida Premiere of On Swift Horses. All foreign-language films will have English subtitles.
In addition to panel discussions, master classes, and after-hours parties, the festival will honor jury-selected, best-in-class cinema with an awards ceremony.

There are many enchanting evenings scheduled at the Adrienne Arsht Center this month. Here are our top picks:
- La La Land in Concert, April 9-10: If you loved the musical romance starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, then you won't want to miss this live concert version. A 50-piece orchestra and jazz ensemble will bring to life the dreamy, bittersweet story of the Academy Award-winning film with an unforgettable live performance of its celebrated score and piano sequences.
