Considered the prelude to the annual Miami Film Festival, GEMS promises a star-studded lineup this year. Showcasing 40 films from over 20 countries, the festival opens with South Korean director Park Chan-wook’s “No Other Choice”, followed by a Q&A session and the presentation of the Precious GEM Master Award.

The fall midseason event will also honor Ethan Hawke with the Variety Virtuoso Award, recognizing his remarkable contributions to the world of cinema. Fans of the cult classic “Clueless” are in for a treat, as the film’s iconic costume designer, Mona May, will be presented with the Precious GEM Award after a post-screening Q&A.

Charlie’s Angels star Lucy Liu will also be in attendance to receive a Precious GEM Award, following a live Q&A about her journey as a director, after the premiere of her award-winning film “Rosemead.”

This outdoor showcase brings you a stunning collection of pre-1966 classics on the lush, bayfront lawns of the historic estate. Among the highlights, you’ll spot a 1950 International Harvester Truck originally purchased by Charles Deering’s daughter.

Presented in partnership with the Antique Automotive Club of America – South Florida Region, the weekend event features a vintage automobile scavenger hunt, kid-friendly crafts, self-guided nature tours, a mangrove boardwalk, and a special screening of the award-winning half-hour film “On This Land: The Charles Deering Estate.” 

The celebration continues into the holiday season with the Historic Holidays: Golden Age of Travel (Nov 28–Jan 6) decorations, inviting you to experience the estate’s festive flourishes inspired by the glamour of mid-20th-century travel.

    Traveling beyond New York for the very first time, the Richard Tucker Gala arrives in Miami to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The evening honors the voices defining opera’s golden eras with performances by three-time Grammy Award winner Ryan Speedo Green, Mexican tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz, and cantor Netanel Hershtik, among others.

    Coinciding with Kristallnacht, the evening will also mark the launch of Florida Grand Opera’s new Voice of Wellness program dedicated to first responders, nurses, and veterans.
  • “Silent Night”, November 15

Miami's biggest literary event is back in its 42nd edition, celebrating more than 550 authors and stories from every genre. This week-long festival kicks off with an opening day block party headlined by Jump N’ Funk and featuring signings, readings, talks, and panels in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.

The “Evenings With” series this year features writers like New York Times bestseller Daniel Silva, U.S. Poet Laureate Arthur Sze, environmentalist Bill McKibben, business icon Barry Diller, and acclaimed photographer and author Sally Mann, among others.

From November 21-23, the Street Fair takes over with 250+ exhibitors, live poetry, and bites from Smorgasburg Miami—free on Friday and always free for kids under 12. Little ones will especially enjoy “Children’s Alley,” packed with arts, music, dance, and storytelling performances, plus an imagination station for digital adventurers.
