Wheels Rolling To Run Industrial Spaces Out And More Residences Into Wynwood.

A new plan has been proposed for Miami developers and property owners to make it easier to build mixed-use and residential projects in the Wynwood area, while at the same time, preserving its history and culture.
This plan has passed the first line of defense, as the Planning, Zoning, and Appeals Board of Miami agreed upon the changes without opposition. The changes would eliminate most industrial uses and allow denser residential developments on about 205 acres of Wynwood properties. Before it can be fully implemented, the plans must be approved and finalized by the city commission.
The current law states that property owners and developers need to file applications one by one to change the property designation from industrial to anything else in Wynwood. With this new change, about 104 acres of land will be repurposed as general commercial use from its original industrial use and the rest of the already commercial land will be allowed to have denser residences.
