Will Genting's Acquisition of Las Vegas Property Hinder Resorts World Miami?
Jul 02, 2014 July 02, 2014
The Genting Group is planning on bringing a mixed-use casino project to a 30 acre plot next to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami. However, in other parts of the states, Genting has acquired 87 acres of property in Las Vegas for $350 million.
Richard Goode, president of Resorts World Miami has spoken out concerning the belief that the Las Vegas development would hinder Miami's development. Goode said, “Not at all. We are moving forward with our Miami project as a standalone project.”
Resorts World Miami has been scaled down a bit due to legislation being so tight on gambling laws. There is still no word of gambling becoming permissible for Genting.
The project will include convention space, hotel rooms, residences, office space, restaurants, retail space, and hopefully a casino floor.
