New Mixed-Use Project Proposed for Buena Vista Neighborhood

The greenery surrounding the classy Miami neighborhood of Buena Vista will now be the new site of a low-rise 60,000 square-foot mixed-use project.
Michal Aviv, an Israel-based Developer, plans to develop a .85 acre lot that she purchased for $1.25 million into a center with restaurants, a boutique hotel wellness center, many small retail shops, and a residential complex. The project will be titled Upper Buena Vista. She has already submitted a master plan to Miami’s zoning department. “We want to be the bohemian brother or sister to the Design District,” Aviv said.
The lot itself, located at 184 Northeast 50th Terrace, is just south of the Miami Jewish Home & Hospital for the Aged, a nursing home and rehabilitation center, and just west of the Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame High School.
There will be a few phases of construction for the project. First, developers will remodel an existing two-story commercial building into a new restaurant and rooftop bar by the Summer of 2016. After that, the second phase will entail three new three-story buildings which will house several retailers, a bed-and-breakfast hotel, art studios, a spa, and seven small residential cottages that will be rented out. The second phase is to be completed by early 2018.
There will also be a 33-space parking lot in addition to eight street spaces.
Upper Buena Vista will be Aviv’s first development in Miami. However, she has worked previously in Tel Aviv, London, and Paris.
