Heat Coach Spoelstra’s Wedding Gift – Plush Coconut Grove Plantation Home
by Sep Niakan | July 17, 2016
We’re saying hello to our latest neighbor in Coconut Grove. Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s made quite the romantic gesture with his latest buy. Just days after the Heat were eliminated from the playoffs in May; he signed the dotted line for a 5,400 sq. ft. plantation home in Coconut Grove.
Coach Spo will be marrying former Heat cheerleader Nikki Sapp on July 1. Not only is he leaving behind his two-bedroom bachelor pad at Coconut Grove’s Ritz-Carlton, but Spoelstra’s put down $2.6 million for his new home and taken the remaining $1.95 million on mortgage.
Quite a dream come true for any newlywed, the residence comes complete with an acre of lush tropical land, winding pathways and an oak tree canopy. It sits on the chi-chi Acreage part of the Grove. The main house features four large bedrooms, inclusive of a servant’s quarters, and five bathrooms. There’s a separate guest cottage with additional bedroom.
The 1937 house has been through extensive renovations lately. So, it now boasts of befitting wide-plank wood flooring and vaulted wood-beamed ceilings. The kitchen now has an island and also features top-of-the-line appliances. The master suite also features an over-sized terrace overlooking the large pool. Besides this, Coach Spoelstra also owns a summer surfer hideaway in the Kihei area of Hawaii.
