Summer’s come a-knocking and it’s time to get up and about in Miami. This month’s lineup includes crazy concerts, museum hopping, Mother’s Day specials, Memorial Day weekend ideas and some wild parties. So what are you waiting for? Let’s get the party started!

Miami Museum Month: May 1-31

Various locations across Miami

It’s the perfect excuse to go museum hopping all month long and give those gray cells a shuffle. Couples can find a higher sense of appreciation at the likes of Rubell Family Collection, The Bass, Lowe Art Museum, Perez Art Museum and more. Take along your little ones for an early start with exhibits at the Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, HistoryMiami, Gold Coast Railroad Museum and more. Mother's Day: May 13

All Kids Included Family Arts Festival: May 5

South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center

This backyard party celebrates children with and without disabilities. With this year’s theme based on ‘We’re All Wonders’, kids will get to take home a free copy of the official book. The 12th edition of this annual festival will have live shows, artistic fun, contests, face painting, meet and greet plus performances by America’s Got Talent’s Mandy Harvey and more for a kid-friendly weekend.

Rolling Loud Festival: May 11-13

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens

Grown-ups can have their fun too this May, with a weekend dedicated to rap and hip-hop. An enviable rap lineup makes this is one of the largest hip-hop festivals in the world. Rock out to over 100 artists performing across three stages. Catch favorites like J. Cole, Travis Scott, Future, and more at this year’s jam.

New Times Brew at the Zoo: May 12

After this, you won’t look at the zoo the same way again! Miami New Times and Zoo Miami bring you the annual Brew at the Zoo festival. Guzzle down more than 100 local, international and craft beers at this evening event. Live music and great food make sure you enjoy those suds at leisure. Justin Timberlake Concert: May 18

Redland International Orchid Show: May 18-20

Fruit and Spice Park, Homestead

Paddletopia Festival: May 19-20

More of a water lover? Then dedicate your weekend to the first-ever paddle boarding festival. This weekend-long event will feature stand-up paddle boarding with complimentary paddle boards and kayaks. An eco-fashion show, live DJ, “chill out” lounges, kid-friendly graffiti train, a wellness expo, free smoothies and a family boot camp make sure everyone feels involved.

Out in the Tropics: May 24 - June 24

Get in the know with artists’ works addressing pressing issues ranging from politics to sexuality. This month-long program will feature multi-disciplinary performance art including poetry, micro-theater plays, art and music.

Air & Sea Show/Musical Explosion: May 26-27

South Beach

Gather round to honor the brave men and women who laid down their lives to make this country a safe place for us and our kids. Water activities and adrenaline pumping demos come followed by a spectacular air show in the day. A Music Explosion sets in with the setting sun, shifting the mood to a lighter note with DJ Irie, top musical acts and military demos taking the stage. The evening concludes with a special night-pyro parachute demo and fireworks. Four blocks of interactive displays at the Display Village bring the family together over this humbling weekend.

Memorial Day Weekend: May 26-28

It’s the unofficial kick-start to the summer and a somber weekend just won’t do. Bringing the family together is the Flamingo Garden Kidzfest featuring pony rides, butterfly counters, bounce house and more. You could also take a Segway tour through the historic districts in Miami or enjoy some flyboarding over the weekend. Family-friendly beaches like Virginia Key and Key Biscayne make for a great way to chill with the kids.
