A Thanksgiving Story From Buena Vista

As soon as you set foot outside your car, the crisp breeze envelops your face. As you walk down the street, the sound of the rustling leaves draws your gaze upwards to watch the canopy of Spanish oak trees above you dancing in the wind. It’s fall in Buena Vista - that tiny but vigorous neighborhood between Miami’s Design District and Little Haiti.
It’s the season to enjoy a warm cup of coffee and an ever so slight chill in the wind. At the table behind you, a group of laughing artists recount last night’s antics over coffee and cigarettes. You look inside and on a red bench, a father reads a comic to his son.
Over in the corner, a local entrepreneur talks business with a colleague. A realtor rushes in for an espresso at the counter on his way to meet his next client. And wherever you are this holiday season, know that you too, are part of an interconnected community of people watchers, parents, performance artists and networkers making memories and creating the moments we call life.
