Architect Sues SkyRise in Opposition of the Development

by Sep Niakan, September 02, 2014

Charles Corda, an architect, has filed suit in order to stop a ruling from August on SkyRise Miami, which he believes is a threat to the locals.

Corda notes that he is in support of the renovations, and wants to see Bayside cleaned up and upgraded, but is in opposition of linking Bayside to SkyRise.

The vote to allow for the support or opposition of both Bayside renovations and Skyrise has brought Corda to oppose the voting itself. He said, “I oppose the SkyRise project but I don’t oppose the renovation of Bayside.” The ballots simply do not allow him to vote how he wants to.

As his opposing effort, Corda obtained over 300 signatures through an online petition. The petition is in opposition of the 1,000-foot SkyRise, due to traffic issues, noise, pollution, and possible gambling in the tower, which he calls a“wildly inappropriate, high risk venture.”
