$8.6 million could buy any luxury buyer a penthouse suite in a condo tower, or it could buy an eco-friendly private island.
The island off the coast of Florida, near Marathon, called “East Sister Rock,” is on the market for $8.6 million. Or, you may rent it for $1,000 per night. The island has a 5,000 square-foot home that is powered by wind and solar energy.
East Sister Rock has been on and off the market since 2011, when it was listed for $12 million. It was recently re-listed for a reduced price.
To get to Marathon from the island, it is an easy three minute boat ride, or a two hour trip to Miami. If you have a helicopter, you may also go that route, as there is helipad on the island.
The house was built back in 1980, with three-bedrooms, two-bathrooms, and a 2,500 square-foot veranda space, allowing for a 360 degree view of the ocean. There is also a guest house on the island, which includes another bedroom and bathroom.
