City-owned Beachfront Condo Project – Hollywood Beach

Groundbreaking – NA | Completion – NA

City-owned Beachfront Condo Project – Hollywood Beach

Still trying to win approval for its 30-story beachfront condo in Hollywood Arts, developer Related Group was sent back to the drawing board this February. Looking to build a luxury condo on city-owned land with a promise to fund and improve public amenities, the developer’s proposal was rejected by the Hollywood City Commission citing concerns like the height of the tower blocking views, the building casting a shadow on the beach by late afternoon, increased traffic, loss of open space, negative environmental impact, and more.

Winning public bidding to build on the 4-acre site at 1301 South Ocean Drive, Related wants to build a 30-story, 190-unit luxury condo tower with 475,000 square feet of residential space. The condo building would not allow short-term rentals, as it would have a minimum-stay restriction of 4 months with renting up to twice a year only. Designed by Arquitectonica, prices at the luxury tower are expected to range from $625,800 for a one-bedroom to $1.29 million for three bedrooms.

In return of getting approved, Related would fund all the improvements to the city-owned site. Upgrades at the beachfront site would include building a brand-new culture and community center, improving the Harry Berry Park, building a boardwalk extension, building new restaurants, and public parking.
