Going carless in Miami

Going carless in Miami

I just traded in my Mercedes E350 Sedan for . . . . (drum roll please) . . . nothing. That's right, I traded my car in for no car at all. Or, rather, I traded my car in for Uber and Lyft.

Miami is more walkable than ever. Uber and Lyft's low rates have changed the cost-benefit of owning an automobile in an urban city like Miami. Public transportation is not amazing, but getting better, and I intend to explore it and keep an eye on growth.

Even with my growing family, I purposely have chosen to stick with condo living close to my office, so that I am within walking distance (or a $5 Uber ride). While I think I am one of the early adopters, I believe that transit-style living, bad traffic, better public transportation, etc, will find many other people following in these footsteps.

And we can end with that while I have given up my car, we still do have one family car.
