Miami’s Oldest Bar Closing After 102 Years of Business

Miami’s Oldest Bar Closing After 102 Years of Business

Tobacco Road, Miami’s oldest standing bar, finally closed its doors at its current location after over 100 years of business.

Some say that Tobacco Road is closing due to the new condo developments, shopping malls, and other new and improved attractions. Either way, October 25th was the decided final day of business for Tobacco Road.

Many years ago, Carlos Mattos, a local developer, purchased the property that included the historic bar, making it sound like he would develop something on it. After a few years, he finally chose what to do with the land, and Tobacco Road is now being closed down and presumably replaced with something else.

The Tobacco Road business might be moved to another location, possibly with the same liquor license, so they would actually keep the title of “Miami’s Oldest Bar.” However, after 102 years in business, that would be their first time they ever moved.
