New Public Art Coming to the Design District Worth $10 Million

Over the next couple years, the Design District will be gaining up to $10 million worth of public art.

Sources have found some of the new works will include a re-creation of Buckminster Fuller’s Fly’s Eye Dome, a sculpture of Le Corbusier, and two murals created by John Baldessari.

In other areas of Miami, public works of art are popping up as well. Jorge Perez released plans for two new sculptures during Art Basel which will be designed by Argentine artist Julio Le Parc. Le Parc’s new sculptures will be at One Brickell once it is finished, and will cost approximately $1 million.

Bruce Berkowitz has also made plans for new public art in his new headquarters on Biscayne Boulevard. These works will be designed by James Turrel and Richard Serra.
