The day it really snowed in Miami

Come winter, Miamians light up palm trees and build sandmen. But we sometimes miss the snow. January 19, 1977 is one surreal morning that lives in the memories of so many residents who ran outside in awe and were lucky enough to build true snowmen. “Snow In Miami!” the Miami News headline shouted nearly 4 decades ago.
Those of us spending winters in the Magic City today, however, have learned to create special memories without snow. After all, cherishing time with friends, neighbors and loved ones is the perfect formula for a special kind of good fortune during the holiday season.
