Miami Beach Convention Center | November 29 - December 4, 2022
To the delight of everyone who loves exquisite design, and for all those looking to decorate a new home with the most heart-stopping furniture and decorative artifacts available on the contemporary global stage, Design Miami/ 2022 returns to Miami Beach beginning Tuesday November 29.
Featuring an outstanding collection of 50 international design Galleries and Curios, along with an exciting program of partnerships, collaborations, talks, and social events, the fair showcases the most prized design collectors from all corners of the world, featuring objects that range from furniture to sculpture, jewelry, and everything in between.
Guided by the vision of the fair’s Curatorial Director, Maria Cristina Didero, this year’s fair theme is The Golden Age: Looking to the Future.
“At a time when human beings are challenged in unprecedented ways, I hope that the theme will offer a source of inspiration to imagine and shape a brighter future for our planet and all its inhabitants,” explained Didero. And indeed, the fair brings an array of offerings and possibilities that help us to imagine what life could be by simply making a few different choices in how we collectively see and do things.
Design Miami/2022 Highlights
Among this year’s Gallery program, the fair welcomes a few fist-time exhibitors. These include Ippodo Gallery (New York), with an expansive collection of contemporary Japanese kogei inspired by traditional Japanese knick-knacks; Galerie Negropontes (Paris), showcasing French designer-creators who are pushing the decorative arts in surprising new directions; and Diletante42 (São Paulo), with an extraordinary collection of contemporary Brazilian design artifacts.
The exciting and diverse Gallery program truly inspires with something for everyone, from collectors of modern and contemporary pieces to interior designers, or those simply looking for a single piece.
Representing the world’s most exclusive design houses, the Gallery Program welcomes established long-time exhibitors such as Galerie Patrick Seguin (Paris), specializing in mid-century French design pieces and furniture, and Magen H Gallery (New York), featuring 20th-century modern French furniture and decorative arts.
For those interested in historical American design, Moderne Gallery (Philadelphia), and Shaker design specialist John Keith Russel Antiques (South Salem) will be on hand with their specialties.
Other returning exhibitors can be found here, and include Cristina Grajales (New York), Hostler Burrows (New York), Jason Jacques Gallery (New York), Southern Guild (Cape Town), Sarah Myerscough Gallery (London), Ateliers Courbet (New York), Wexler Gallery (Philadelphia), and AGO Projects (Mexico City), with exhibits that focus on new approaches to traditional craft design.
And Carpenters Workshop Gallery (Paris), Friedman Benda (New York), R & Company (New York), https://nilufar.com/en/ (Milan), Todd Merrill Studio (New York), and Ornamentum (Hudson) return with edgy limited-edition works and collectibles.
The fair’s Curio program showcases emerging talents and fresh new works and provides a wonderful sneak peek at what’s coming in art and design and what’s hot among this year’s newest creators.
This year, inspired by Philadelphia-based ceramic artist and potter Roberto Lugo with support from R & Company, the Curio program will feature a physical storefront installation by Lugo modeled after a typical neighborhood bodega, using his highly popular digital podium, The Village Potter.
