The first days of Spring in Miami are arriving and so is a wave of exciting new events. Whether you’re enjoying the spring break (or trying to avoid those on one), here are some great events to look forward to in the month of March:
Miami International Film Festival ~ March 3-12
In its 34th year, the Miami International Film Festival gets the best of world cinema to a theater near you. Opening night will feature a Champagne and Star event along with the screening of Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer. Get ready for 10 days of movie madness, special events, awards, discussions, master classes and gala parties.
Carnaval on the Mile Jazz and Art Festival ~ March 4-5
There’s nothing like getting into the spring spirit like a free event. The Carnaval on the Mile brings a weekend full of live Jazz, art and great food to Coral Gables’ Miracle Mile. Produced by the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, this year’s events will take place between LeJeune and Douglas. Visit the Artists Village for esthetic flair, sample amazing food and wine at the Annual Cork and Fork, and watch the likes of People You May Know, PALO! And The Pedrito Martinez Group jazz it up during Carnaval.
Bacardi Miami Sailing Week ~ March 5-11
Gear up for a week full of serious maritime fun with the Bacardi Miami Sailing Week. Watch teams from around the world gather at Regatta Park, Coconut Grove and take part in this multi-class regatta. Catch the Star Class, Viper 640s, J70s, VX Ones, A-Cats, Melges 24s, Flying Tigers 7.5 and more in action. There will also be art exhibits, gala dinners, cocktail events, concerts and parties to keep the adrenaline going.
Annual Calle Ocho Festival ~ March 12
Have a colorful time at the nation’s largest Hispanic street festival in Little Havana – ‘El Festival de la Calle Ocho’. In its 40th year, enjoy a wide spectrum of great Latin food, gyrate to the rhythms of salsa, create your own conga line, join the street dancers or take a VIP tour to make the most of the Calle Ocho Festival.
The Miami Open ~ March 20- April 2
Get set to treat yourself to a fortnight of star tennis with The Miami Open. To be held at the Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, this two-week tournament is one of the most awaited sports events on the calendar. This year, Roger Federer will be back, along with Djokovic, Serena, Murray, Venus Williams and Garbine Muguruza to put on quite the show. Expect the best of gourmet food, fashion, sports and entertainment to unfold in these two weeks.
Winter Music Conference ~ March 21-24
Get ready for a rocking time at the largest, longstanding EDM and dance music industry gathering of its kind. Celebrating its 32nd consecutive year, expect artists, DJs and industry delegates from more than 70 countries to converge in Miami Beach. Clubs and venues across Miami will be packed with parties and events throughout WMC week. The Fair ~ March 23- April 16
The Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition is back with its kids’ special frenzy of events. Think rides, cotton candy, turkey legs, funnel cake, petting zoo, skateboarding races, a circus, livestock exhibits, live entertainment, youth fair, scholarship programs and more. A first-class event for the entire family to enjoy, The Fair will be rocking the Tamiami Park grounds.
Ultra Music Festival ~ March 24-26
You may not want to go to this, but you’ve got to know when it’s here in case you want to avoid the roudy crowd. Get ready to see people wild out at the world’s most famous outdoor EDM events at Bayfront Park. The Ultra Music Festival will be back in town with the world’s most elite DJs and productions for an out-of-the-world experience. This year’s explosive lineup includes Black Coffee, Carlcox, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Dubfire, KSHMR, Tale of Us, technasia and more. The general tickets have already sold out.
The Deering Seafood Festival ~ March 26
Sharpen your knives and forks to dig into catch from the sea and celebrity chef preparations at the Deering Seafood Festival on the Bay. This seafood festival, held at the Deering Estate in Palmetto Bay, features age-appropriate entertainment for everyone in the family. There’ll be star chef cooking demos, live entertainment, Virgin Island stilt walkers, a Bahamian Junkanoo musical parade and Lil’ Shrimp Kids Zone with healthy tastings and fun activities for a belly-friendly weekend.
