Clue by clue, we're gathering a better idea of that the final development of the Miami Innovation Tower might turn out to be.
SHoP Architects is designing the project. They've been named by Fast Company as the number one most innovative architectural firm in the entire world, ahead of even Zaha Hadid.
New plans show that the 633-foot tower will have an observation deck, retail space, studio space, and restaurants scattered throughout. In addition, there are hints about an amphitheater at the base of the tower.
The observation tower, a $200 million project, is expected to bring people to Park West, a part of downtown Miami that is hardly used. Developers are estimating 1.2 million visitors every year, with the creation of 700 permanent jobs and 1,700 construction jobs.
Tomas Regalado, the mayor of Miami, openly opposes the project and is attempting to pass legislation that will change zoning codes to disallow the proposed L.E.D. skin of the tower.
