Emilio González, the Miami-Dade Aviation Director, has traveled to Taipei, Taiwan recently in order to talk, in person, with Asian officials about a new Miami to Asia flight service.
Miami International Airport officials are saying that González’s visit is the first step in a new permanent connection between Miami and Asia. Notably, they said that they are attempting to take advantage of the recent boom of China’s interest in Miami investment property.
“I applaud Director González and his team for taking the initiative to directly pursue air service that connects our community to the massive Asian market,” Carlos Gimenez, Mayor of Miami-Dade said, “Expanding international trade, tourism and business are priorities of my administration and these outreach efforts are right in line with those goals.”
González notes that a direct flight to Asia will make for easy access to China, Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Japan. This will be a new market that will tap into Miami’s attractive investments for many Asian investors.
