Miami's Green City: Creating Jobs And Making The Planet Happy

Miami property owners are planning on expanding the Urban Development Boundary of Dade county westward, in order to create a massive new project.
The massive project is an idea conceived in an effort to be environmentally friendly. It will be called Green City. Green City will add about 26,000 new residents, not to mention thousands of new jobs, to the edge of the Everglades.
The 859 acres of land will include over 11,400 homes, almost 1.4 million square-feet of retail space, almost 1 million square-feet of office space, 350,000 square-feet of industrial space, and almost 500,000 square-feet of government and educational uses. In addition, there will be 660 hotel rooms for rent.
The property is owned by many different partners, who have combined forces for the application.
Extending the development past the boundary is an issue in itself, and it heightens concerns for the environment of the area. Some have simply been trying to move it, which will require a supermajority (above two-thirds) vote from the Dade commission, but for the time being, it will be at its current location.
