Simon Property Group Joins Swire on the Brickell City Centre’s Mall Component

Mall giant, Simon Property Group, is teaming up with developer Swire Properties on the Brickell City Centre to create a mall in their megaproject.
The over $1 billion project will include a high-end mall, office space, two residential towers, and a hotel. So far, only Saks Fifth Avenue, designer women’s apparel retailer, and Cinemex, a luxury movie theatre company, have sealed the deal to be part of the Brickell City Centre. They expect many more as time goes on.
Construction for the project is expected to finish in the end of 2015.
Swire, the original and primary partner of the City Centre, is developing the mixed-use component themselves. Whitman Family Development, the owners of the Bal Harbor Shops, will be co-developing the mall, and will now be joined by Simon.
“We look forward to working with Swire Properties and the Whitman Family to bring a unique and highly desired shopping center to the Brickell community and urban Miami,” said Richard Sokolov, president and COO of Simon Property Group, “We have already seen strong interest from retailers who have enjoyed great success with us around the country and who are very excited to join us at Brickell City Centre.”
Simon Property Group is the largest mall operator in the United States. They own and/or operate over 280 locations in the United States, and also some in Japan, South, Korea, Canada, Mexico, and Malaysia.

Preconstruction October 2024: Miami New Development and Pre-Construction Condo Update
Miami’s exclusive preconstruction condo market saw a flurry of activity this October, with Surfside being a star.
